Meet The Staff
Lisa, Executive Director
Lisa brings 15 years experience working in community health and wellness. She is the person responsible for ensuring the organizational goals and mission are lived out daily. She holds a BA in Leadership and Gender Studies from Metropolitan State University and a MA in Management from St. Scholastica. Lisa enjoys writing songs, playing music, walking her dog in Como Park and just about every hike she's ever been on.
Julie, Homemaker & Companion Care ($25/hr)
–Julie joined the Block Nurse Program in March 2016. She lives in the Como Park area and is an active community member. She holds a bachelor's degree in music therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She enjoys serving seniors at all stages of their lives and is the youngest member of the Lyngblomsten Community Choir. She loves gardening and camping and is passionate about things like organics recycling. You may see her wearing her “Como Composts” T-shirt when she is out walking or biking.
Carol, Homemaker & Companion Care ($25 / HR)
Carol worked for many years as an ESL teacher in the Minneapolis Public Schools. She is a native of Chicago, but has lived in St. Paul for the past 35 years. Carol enjoys biking, studying Spanish, and visiting Minnesota's beautiful state parks. She is also an active member and big fan of the Midtown YMCA.
Jennifer, Volunteer Coordinator
Jennifer joined the Block Nurse Program in 2014. A native Iowan, she holds bachelor's degrees in geology and geography. She lives in the Como Park neighborhood with her family and black Lab, Scout. As a devoted dog walker, she enjoys her daily walk around Como Park and the abundance of wildlife found in the middle of the city. When not digging in her garden, she can be found relaxing in the kitchen, cooking. Check out her blog entries at "Cooking for One" on our website.
Maria, RN, BSN
Maria is a registered nurse with 25 years' experience working in home health care and as a public health nurse. When Maria is not working, she is enjoying the great outdoors.
Chris, homemaker & Companion Care ($25 / HR)
Chris is a Como Park resident. He enjoys gardening and fixing up old homes. He and his spouse raised two sons in St. Paul and love being a part of the community, highlighting live music and walking around Como Lake as a
favorite outdoor activity. Chris is recently retired & more than thrilled to be a part of our program. He's been with us since the early part of 2017 and is great with housecleaning, assisting with meal prep and gardening/yard work.
